Festival of Tables and Trees in Progress at Pleasantville’s Library

Pleasantville’s Webb Shadle Memorial Library now has a festive look; for the next few days, patrons can see trees or tables decorated in a Christmas theme, and donations will go towards upgrading the building to make it easier for wheelchair users to navigate.

The Festival of Tables and Trees invites organizations from around town to decorate either a table or tree in holiday style; free will donations raised during the event will go towards upgrading the library’s restrooms, making them better able to handle wheelchairs.

Jo Ellen Glick from the Webb Shadle Memorial Library tells KNIA/KRLS News this is the next step in their effort to make the building wheelchair-friendly.

“We have been working really hard on handicap accessibility for the library; we recently did the back doors, but this is our second phase for our handicap accessibility project,” Glick says. “Our bathrooms are not handicap-accessible; and so we’re hoping that with the donations that we receive that it can go towards making those improvements to the building.”

The festival continues through Monday and Tuesday during the library’s regular business hours; it will also host a children’s Christmas party next Saturday, December 8th beginning at 10:00 a.m. Kids may also leave their letters to Santa there until December 18th.
