A Jefferson man faces several charges for an alleged incident involving distributing drugs to minors.
According to court documents, 53-year-old Daryn Mallory is charged with a Class B Felony for drug distribution to a person under the age of 18 while in possession or control of a firearm while in possession of controlled substance, and serious misdemeanors for his first offense for possession of marijuana, supplying alcohol to a person under the legal age and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The charges stem from an investigation that began on December 14th. A Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy and Greene County Emergency Medical Services responded to a 911 call of a 14-year-old who thought they were having a heart attack. While on scene, the deputy interviewed the minor and another witness who claimed they had come from an apartment in the 100 block of East State Street where they smoked marijuana from a glass smoking device. A Jefferson Police Officer then interviewed the victim at the Greene County Medical Center Emergency Room where the victim described the smoking device.
A search warrant was then executed in the apartment by the sheriff’s office and the police department just after midnight on December 15th. The described smoking device and a bag with a green leafy substance were recovered. The leafy substance was tested with the NIK Narcotic Test Kit and it tested positive for marijuana. Authorities also found an underage individual consuming alcohol in the apartment and the individual admitted that Mallory had provided the alcohol. Also during the search warrant, authorities found .22-caliber ammunition on the living room table and a fully loaded revolver in the bedroom closet.
Mallory was arrested and booked into the Greene County Jail. He was later released under his own recognizance. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
