Mark McDonald of Adel became the newest winner through the Raccoon Valley Radio Christmas Cash Giveaway, as his name was drawn last week for $1,000 in cash.

There were 260 individuals throughout the listening area who were finalists for the prize, which included instant qualifiers who donated money and food at each of the stops during the Caring Christmas Food Drive. McDonald qualified by the other method, though, which was putting his name in a box located at one of the participating businesses. “Well, I walked into Raccoon River Rental. He’s a friend, plus I rent stuff off of him. I’ve seen the box, (and) I said, ‘Oh, I’ll give it a chance!’ I couldn’t believe it. I’ve never won anything in my life like that.”

McDonald stopped by the KDLS studio in Perry Friday morning and was presented the $1,000 check by Raccoon Valley Radio General Manager John McGee, as well as Nate Gonner, the voice of the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Tigers. McDonald was grateful for the prize, though he said he’s unsure at this time what he’ll spend the money on. The Christmas Cash Giveaway began on November 16th, and the winner was announced on December 20th. Make sure to listen to Raccoon Valley Radio for future giveaways and contests, and like McDonald you could be a winner.
