In just a couple of days Greene County will have a new County Treasurer.

Katlynn Gannon-Mechaelsen is a Greene County native and a 2011 East Greene High School graduate. She has two bachelor’s degrees in accounting and business administration from AIB College of Business. After being declared the winner by one vote following last month’s recount, she defeated incumbent Donna Lawson. Gannon-Mechaelsen appreciates those who supported her and who voted for her in the midterm election, but she also conveys a message to those who didn’t support her.

“I just want you guys to know that I’m going to work as hard as I can for the next four years to earn your respect and earn your vote in the next four years. I don’t take this job lightly. I know that I work for the community members (and) you guys are really my employer. And if you’re not happy then I’m not going to have a job. So I want everyone to know that my job is to make this office run (as) efficient as possible and to serve the community members with the utmost respect.”

She adds that she plans to add a voicemail system to the treasurer’s office to handle the volume of calls, receive training to be the backup for the driver’s license station and make financial reports easier for the County Supervisors to read and analyze.

To hear more from Gannon-Mechaelsen, listen to tomorrow’s Community State Bank in Paton Let’s Talk Greene County program.
