Jefferson Police Report December 28, 2018-January 1, 2019

Friday, December 28th

5:47am: A caller advised of a fight occurring at 701 North Cedar, Lot 28. The officer arrived and learned of a verbal argument between occupants of the residence. A male left on his own few will, ending the situation.

1:00pm: An officer assisted EMS with a Medical Call in the 100 Block of North Elm Street.

2:17pm: An officer investigated a Backing Accident in the 500 Block of North Grimmell Road. A 2009 Kia Optima, owned by Chad Morton and operated by Carter Morton of Jefferson, was backing from a private drive and backed into a passing vehicle. The 2002 Jeep Liberty was owned and operated by Makayla Randol of Guthrie Center. Both vehicles suffered a reported $3000.00 in damages. Morton was cited for, “Unsafe Backing Upon a Highway.”

9:26pm: Alex Bayliss reported his vehicle had struck a curb and broke its axle in the 700 Block of West Russell Street. The officer arrived and noticed tire tracks consistent with “Drifting Corners” in the snow on the roadway. Bayliss made admissions to doing so and was cited for, “Careless Driving” by the officer.

11:53pm: An officer was called to 508 North Elm Street for a Backing Accident. A 2012 Dodge Charger, owned by Sherri Teeples and operated by Jordan Teeples, stopped in the parking lot to speak to a subject. A 2016 Chevrolet Malibu, owned and operated by Sue Gunn of Grand Junction, backed from a parking spot and struck the Teeples vehicle. The Teeples vehicle had a reported $1000.00 in damages, while the Gunn vehicle had a reported $500.00 in damages. No citation issued as it occurred outside the roadway on private property.

Saturday, December 29th

11:14am: Kenneth Wheeler advised he had blocked a phone number from his phone, but was still receiving automated calls from the number. The officer advised him to speak to his phone provider for another solution.

3:44pm: Dispatch advised an officer of a 911 Hang Up Call that mapped near the Jefferson Cemetery on East Lincoln Way Street. The officer checked the area, but did not find anyone.

2:23pm: A Traffic Stop was performed at 220th and Grimmell Road resulting in Elizabeth Murphy of Scranton being cited for, “Fail to Yield to Emergency Vehicle.

5:58pm: Dave Imler reported his dog had gotten loose from 104 South Cedar Street. The animal returned home a short time later.

10:37pm: An officer assisted a motorist in changing a flat tire in the 200 Block of West Harrison Street.

Sunday, December 30th

4:02am: An officer performed a Traffic Stop with a vehicle at South and Maple Streets. The vehicle had an expired tag on the plate. The officer’s investigation led to the arrest of August Kristopher Halverson, 20 of Jefferson for, “OWI 1st Offense – Serious and Possession of Alcohol Under Legal Age – Simple and Registration Violation – Simple.”

8:39am: A Traffic Stop was performed in the 1700 Block of North Elm Street resulting in Nicki Hoyle of Glidden being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

1:05pm: An officer assisted EMS with a Medical Call in the 200 Block of West Reed Street.

2:25pm: Trent Haley turned in a personal Check he had located sticking out of the ATM Machine in the 200 Block of West State Street. The officer returned the check to a subject in Jefferson.

10:48pm: The Wild Rose Casino requested an officer at 777 Wild Rose Lane for an Intoxicated Subject, who was refusing to leave when asked to do so. The officer arrived and arrested Ramirez Carlos Vega, 54 of Dennison for, “Public Intoxication – Simple.”

Monday, December 31st

12:03am: An officer located an Open Storage Unit at 408 E. Hwy. 30. The unit had a few items inside. The business owner was notified by the officer.

2:35pm: Irene Mischke reported receiving a text message advising the sender was going to kill himself. The message was sent by a phone app and the officer could not determine who the subject was.

3:03pm: Laura Meyer spoke with an officer concerning a Civil Issue with a construction company out of Des Moines. The officer advised her to seek an attorney.

5:51pm: Officers assisted the Medical Examiner with a Death Investigation in the 1200 Block of Westwood Drive.

6:33pm: Officers were called to 804 West Lincoln Way Street for a Domestic Situation occurring there. The officers arrived and spoke to a married couple, who both advised of a Verbal Argument occurring between them. The male left the residence for the evening.

7:12pm: Sparky’s One Stop turned over possible drug paraphernalia located in the restroom at 606 Hwy. 30 East.

9:22pm: Bill Wright reported a Suspicious Vehicle parked in the 500 Block of North Vine Street. The vehicle left a short time later.

10:08pm: A Traffic Stop in the 1400 Block of North Elm Street resulted in Lathan Davis of Churdan being cited for, “Excessive Speed.”

Tuesday, January 1st

12:49am: A caller advised of a loud party in the 400 Block of North Vine Street. The officer attempted to reach someone at the door, but no one would answer. The residence went dark and remained so throughout the remainder of the evening.

5:55am: An officer assisted EMS with a Medical Call in the 1000 Block of West Washington Street.

6:24am: Guthrie County advised of a possible Intoxicated Driver in route from Yale to the casino in Jefferson. The officer did not locate the reported vehicle.

9:17am: Taylor Transit advised they were at 304 South Wilson Ave. to pick up a client and transport her to a appointment, but she will not answer the door. The officer was able to make contact with the subject, who was fine.

6:30pm: Larry Gustoff turned in a box of gun reloading supplies he had found in the roadway in the 100 Block of West Washington Street. The owner can claim the items at the LEC.
