Scrimmage tomorrow at Kuemper Catholic for Greene County boys

A Saturday 8 a.m. basketball scrimmage on the road may not seem like sleeping in to many high school athletes, but for the Greene County High School boys’ basketball team, it is. Coach Chris Nelson’s Rams practiced at 5:45 this morning, so they’ll get a few more ZZZZZZZ’s tomorrow when they scrimmage at Kuemper Catholic in Carroll at 8 a.m. Saturday. It’s a four team scrimmage with the host Knights, the Rams, the Ballard (Huxley) Bombers, and AHSTW (Avoca).

Coach Nelson was asked what he hopes to get out of the four team event. “Well, some competitive nature of play, getting back into more of a game-like atmosphere, and get more rust off the legs. It’ll be nice to compete against some other people. We want to look at some defenses, not necessarily new defensive things, but breaking things down to basics and seeing how we do with those against someone other than ourselves.”

Ballard has the best record of the four teams at 6-2, with AHSTW 5-4, the Knights are 3-4, and the Rams are 4-6.
