Former Ram standout Nick Schroeder lands at U. of Central Arkansas

While visiting relatives in Jefferson on Friday, former Greene County High School standout athlete Nick Schroeder took a few moments and talked with Raccoon Valley Radio. The 2017 graduate spent one season at Iowa Western Community College as a receiver before transferring to the University of Central Arkansas. He redshirted in 2018 and will have three seasons of eligibility remaining at the Conway, AK school.

“It’s a Division I program in the same division as North Dakota State and UNI, the FCS (Football Championship Subdivision). It’s a little bigger than UNI, about 20,000 students, and Conway has about 80,000 people. It’s in the middle of the state, so it’s a good location. The football program has a winning tradition. We had a bad year in 2018, partly because of injuries. We were down to using a third string quarterback. We just hired a new coach, a young guy in his early 30’s, so I’m looking forward to playing for him.”

Schroeder told Raccoon Valley Radio he was in Spring ball at Iowa Western when coaches from UCA were on campus, watched him practice, and made him a scholarship offer, which he accepted.
