Prepared statement from Greene Co. school talks about Coach Moore

Around 12:20 p.m. Friday, Raccoon Valley Radio received the following news release from the Greene County School District. The release is in its entirety below.

“As the Greene County Schools moves forward in hiring a new football coach, strength and conditioning coordinator, and activities director, we will be releasing Mitch Moore from his activities director and strength and conditioning coordinator contracts. Coach Moore’s duties will end as of December. As a district, it is important that we move forward increasing participation, building unity and culture, focusing on sportsmanship and developing youth programs. We want to thank Coach Moore for his service to the Greene County School and our student athletes. We also want to wish Coach Moore the best of luck at Des Moines Roosevelt.”

Coach Moore announced publicly on Dec. 14 he would be leaving the Greene County district to become head football coach at Des Moines Roosevelt. In two seasons under Coach Moore’s direction, the Rams were 9-10 overall. They were 1-8 in 2016 in Class 3A before he took the Rams’ job. The 2017 team was also in Class 3A and went 1-8. In 2018, the Rams were 8-1 in the regular season, tied for the Class 2A District 9 title, were top 10 ranked, made the 16-team playoff field, and finished with eight wins and two losses. Greene County was Coach Moore’s first head coaching stop.
