Van Houten Hired as Office Coordinator for Guthrie County Extension and Outreach

Megan Van Houten

There is a new friendly face to be seen at the Guthrie County ISU Extension and Outreach office.

Yale resident Megan Van Houten has been hired as the new office coordinator, filling a vacancy left by Krista Downing who is now the program coordinator for Guthrie County Extension. According to Guthrie County Extension, Van Houten comes to the position with a strong financial background and customer service skills. She will oversee the coordination of daily operations, bookkeeping, and assist with various program plans.

Van Houten shares why she desired to work for Guthrie County Extension, “I just really wanted to be more involved in the community (and) be able to be involved with different programs and different things like that, so I get to be out and about.”

Originally hailing from Panora, Van Houten moved back to Guthrie County after missing the rural communities in the metro area. Though she does not have previous experience in Extension or 4-H, Van Houten is excited to learn more about Extension’s purpose of engaging citizens through research-based education, and developing meaningful community partnerships.
