A program through insurance companies allows individuals to utilize the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson for free each month.
Jefferson Parks and Recreation Director Vicky Lautner says the Silver Sneakers program allows people to use the facility for free on a monthly basis, as long as your insurance company carries it. “It’s $30 per month (same as a monthly membership). The insurance pays for it. I just have to send a report to the insurance company about how many times that person visited, which I can do from RecTrac. And then I email it to the activity health and they pay off of that.”
Lautner notes that there’s no age restrictions, but you have to check with your insurance company to make sure they offer the Silver Sneakers program.
