An Arizona man was arrested for a felon in possession of a firearm charge following an incident last week in Adair County.

According to court records, an Iowa State Patrol Trooper responded to a call on Thursday, December 20th to look for a red Chevy truck with Arizona plates that had left the City of Adair and was eastbound on Interstate 80. The male driver of the truck spent what was believed to be a counterfeit $100 bill to purchase a pizza at a local business. The trooper was then advised the same truck had called for a wrecker and was broken down. The trooper responded to the 80 mile marker rest area and made contact with the driver’s wife who stated she was with her three kids and husband. She said that her husband was in the rest area building and his name was Edward. The trooper then approached a man exiting the building who claimed his name wasn’t Edward. When asked Crystal stated he was her husband. The man, who was wearing a backpack walked around a blue semi trailer and then was seen without the backpack. When questioned the man denied the backpack was his, and then said there was a “bong” in there. An Adair County Sheriff’s Deputy then arrived and retrieved the backpack from underneath the semi. A loaded handgun was found next to the backpack on the ground. The man, 39-year-old Edward David Ermocida was taken into custody and then transported to the Adair County Hospital to be checked for the complaint of shoulder pain. He was treated and released and booked into the Adair County Jail. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
