As 2018 comes to a close, Stuart Mayor Dick Cook says he has much to be proud of in the past year and is excited for what’s to come in 2019.

Cook shares some of Stuart’s highlights from the year, “The main big project was the Karl’s Chevrolet expansion in town, that’s huge for the City with tax base increase. And then the Wambold Addition, we had the first phase just got finished up with 32 new homes. Twenty four of the new homes are new people into this town, which is significant.”

Cook looks forward to the completion of the second phase of the Wambold Addition, as well as a potential third subdivision near the All Saints Church. A City is not without its challenges though, as Cook says their biggest one is the process of disposing nuisance properties. Other projects in 2019 include the Stuart Utility Board continuing to bury all their electric lines underground. The coming year will also include many community events that Cook hopes increase tourism to Stuart, such as Scoop the Loop and Good Egg Days in June, events at the Stuart Speedway, and a new Bonnie and Clyde Run in April.
