Select Panorama students are spending New Year’s in Tampa Bay, Florida at the Outback Bowl.
Audrey Cmelik, Lauren Soll, and Jordan Brown were selected for this year’s Southwest Iowa Honor Marching Band after auditioning last May. Since 1984, the honor band has traveled across the country to perform at college football bowl games, representing the best high school musicians of southwest Iowa. The Panorama students’ trip to Florida also includes visits to Universal Studios, Busch Gardens, and a New Year’s yacht party. The honor band performed in the Outback Bowl New Year’s Eve Parade Monday night and is performing in the pregame show for today’s game, which features the University of Iowa Hawkeyes against Mississippi State University Bulldogs, with kickoff at 11 a.m. on ESPN2. The honor band will also be a part of the halftime show featuring more than 3,500 high school and college performers.
