ACGC Girls Basketball Hoping to Carry Winning Ways Over to 2019

acgcToday is the final day of 2018, a day when people across the globe examine their lives and decide what they want to improve on in the next year. The ACGC girls basketball team is hoping their strong play will continue after the calendar flips to 2019. The Chargers finished the 2018 portion of their schedule at 6-4.

Head coach Dan Baker is hoping one of the new year’s resolutions for the ACGC girls is committing fewer turnovers. According to Quickstats, the Chargers are dead last in turnovers per contest in the West Central Activities Conference with 21.5. Baker also mentioned believing in themselves as something to focus on in 2019.

“The kids have done a great job. They’re really coming together. They’re playing better as a team. They’re working hard. I think they’re starting to believe in all the things I told them in the beginning. I told them in the very beginning that I thought they were better than they thought they were. I think they’re starting to believe that. I think they’re starting to gain in confidence, and I think 2019 holds great things for our girls.”

The girls will open up their 2019 schedule on Friday against the first team they defeated in 2018, Woodward-Granger. You can hear the doubleheader live on KKRF2 and RacoonValleyRadio.com. Tip-off is set for 6pm from Guthrie Center.
