Hoyle readies for return to mat for Rams

After a senior football season that saw him be selected for the Shrine Bowl and multiple All-State first teams in Class 2A, Greene County athlete Bryce Hoyle saw the start of the wrestling season for him delayed by a month. The culprit was mononucleosis. Hoyle returned the mat recently and is preparing to be in the lineup at 195 lbs. when first year head coach Zach Beekman’s Rams open the 2019 portion of the season in Ogden on Thursday, Jan. 3. The Bulldogs host the Rams, Audubon, and Southeast Valley (Gowrie), before going to a Friday tournament the next day at North Polk in Alleman. Hoyle said he plans to wrestle both days.

Raccoon Valley Radio asked Hoyle, who was 21-13 as a junior, how he thought his conditioning might be. “I know it’s going to be tough to wrestle multiple matches on consecutive days since I haven’t had a single match yet this season. I’m viewing it as a mental challenge, so if I get my mind right, I should be OK.”

The Rams are 10-7 in dual meets and they are getting closer to getting the lineup at full strength, and at what the coach feels are the right weights classes.
